Federal Pell Grants

What is it?

  • This is a grant for those who qualify
  • No repayment is required
  • For undergraduates only
  • Amount of award varies

Pell Grants are awards to help you pay for your education after high school. For many students, these grants provide a “foundation” of financial aid, to which aid from other federal and non-federal sources may be added. Unlike loans, grants do not have to be paid back. Pell Grant awards for the academic year will depend on program funding. How much you actually get will depend on your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number, the cost of education at your school, whether you are a full-time or less than part-time student, and how long you will be enrolled in the academic year.

A Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) is an award to help you pay for your education after high school. It is for undergraduate students with exceptional financial need (with priority given to Pell Grant recipients), and does not have to be paid back.

College Access Program (CAP)

Amounts are determined by the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority Grant Program. CAP grants awards for the academic year will depend on program funding. How much you actually get will depend on your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number, the cost of education at your school, whether you are a full-time or less than part-time student, and how long you will be enrolled in the academic year.
