What do they do?
The purpose of the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Medical Administrative Management program is to prepare graduates to be multi-skilled
health professionals who perform administrative, clinical, and management duties in a physician's office, clinic or other type of health care facility.
Students
are trained first and
foremost as medical
assistants with additional
emphasis on management
skills.
They may manage both routine and emergency situations, along with overseeing the staff and facilities. Course work in office and human resource management will aid in professional growth and ability to assume a leadership role.
Where
do they work?
With an associate degree in
Medical Administrative
Management, the graduate
will have the opportunity to
assist the physician in
developing a healthier
society. Duties will
include office management,
performing diagnostic tests,
and assisting the doctor
with special procedures.
Both an administrative and
clinical externship will
provide the student with
hands-on experience.
What are they paid?
We recommend that prospective students refer to local health care employers for earning potential in their region. For a national overview of potential earnings, we recommend the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook found in the local library or visit their website.
